CCTV security camera installation for Richmond Hill businesses

Our CCTV installation service is built around commercial and industrial sites. These are the property types we secure most often in Richmond Hill. Each one has its own page with camera positions, equipment and pricing.

Why Richmond Hill businesses choose us as their security camera installation company

Plenty of companies sell cameras. Fewer plan them properly, install them cleanly and answer the phone three years later. This is what you get with us.

14 years of installs

We have installed cameras since 2010, from single-door shops to a 270,000 square foot warehouse with 200 cameras.

Our own technicians

The people who quote the job install the job. No subcontracted crews, no surprises on the day.

3-year warranty

A three-year warranty on our installation work, longer than most installers in Ontario offer.

Same-week service

Site visits within days, most commercial installs booked within two weeks, and quick turnaround on repairs.

Clear pricing

A written quote with each camera, cable run and recorder listed, and no monthly fees unless you choose cloud storage.

Licensed and insured

Licensed, insured technicians who follow Ontario privacy law and the Electrical Safety Code on every job.

24/7 remote support

Remote diagnostics and after-hours help when a camera goes dark or you need footage for police or insurance.

Designed per site

Every layout is drawn for the building in front of us, with the camera types that fit each position.

Security camera types we install in Richmond Hill

Surveillance camera installation is not one camera repeated twelve times. We match the type to the position: turret at the doors, fisheye over the floor, bullet on the fence, plate camera at the gate. Here is what we install and where it fits.

Turret cameras

Our default outdoor camera for storefronts, loading docks and yards. The ball-in-socket design aims easily, the IR sits away from the lens so there is no glare, and the housing shrugs off snow.

Dome cameras

Vandal-resistant domes for lobbies, corridors, parking garages and retail floors. Nobody can tell where the lens points, and the housing takes a hit without losing the picture.

Bullet cameras

Long-range cameras for fence lines, laneways, gates and large parking lots. Varifocal lenses let us read a plate or a face from 30 metres and beyond.

PTZ cameras

Pan, tilt and zoom cameras that follow movement across a warehouse floor or a truck yard. One PTZ with auto-tracking can replace several fixed cameras on a large site.

Fisheye and 360 cameras

One ceiling camera that sees a whole open floor with no blind spot. We use them in packing areas, showrooms and restaurants where wall space is scarce.

Multi-sensor cameras

Two to four lenses in one housing that cover 180 or 270 degrees in full resolution. We installed the first multi-lens Uniview camera in Canada and use them on building corners.

Licence plate cameras

Purpose-built cameras that capture plates at entrances, gates and drive-throughs day and night, with the plate number searchable in the recorder.

Thermal cameras

Cameras that see heat instead of light for perimeter detection in total darkness, fog or snow, and for early fire detection in recycling and storage yards.

Wireless cameras

Wi-Fi and point-to-point radio cameras for outbuildings, gates and sites where trenching a cable makes no sense. We size the radio link so the video never stutters.

Battery-powered cameras

Cameras that run for months on a charge for temporary needs, remote sheds and spots with no power at all. They record on motion and send alerts to your phone.

Solar-powered cameras

A camera, battery and solar panel on one pole for construction sites, farms, marinas and lots with no hydro. We add LTE so the footage reaches you anywhere.

Light socket cameras

360-degree cameras that screw into a standard light socket for porches, hallways and stairwells where drilling and cabling is not an option.

DVR and analog upgrades

If you already have coax cable, we can upgrade an old analog DVR system to UltraHD cameras on the same wires, which saves most of the labour of a new install.

Discreet cameras

Small pinhole and covert cameras for cash rooms, stockrooms and offices where a visible camera would change behaviour or spoil the look of the space.

How we plan camera coverage

Good security camera installation is mostly planning. These are the three things we work out on every site visit before a single hole is drilled.

Camera viewing angles: 2.8 mm lens 137 degrees, 4 mm lens 90 degrees, 12 mm lens 30 degrees 2.8 mm lens, 137° Overview. Face ID to ~5 m 4 mm lens, 90° Doors and tills. Face ID to ~9 m 12 mm lens, 30° Gates and lanes. Plate to ~30 m Wider angle = more area, less detail. Narrower angle = less area, more detail. We pick the lens per position.

Camera viewing angles

The lens decides what a camera can prove. A 2.8 mm lens sees 137 degrees but only identifies a face within about five metres. A 12 mm lens sees a narrow lane and reads a plate at thirty. On a Richmond Hill site we mix both so every camera has a job it can actually do.

Plan view of a commercial building showing eight recommended camera positions Parking Gate / entrance lane Reception / sales floor Office / server room Warehouse / stock Main door Dock Staff door 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 1 Main door, face height, 4 mm 2 Dock door, wide overview 3 Staff door, inward facing 4 Sales floor corner, fisheye or dome 5 Office and server room 6 Warehouse, high mount 7 Parking, building corner 8 Gate, plate camera

Best camera placement for a commercial building

The plan shows the eight positions we start from on most commercial sites: a face-height camera at the main door, inward-facing cameras at staff doors, corners that see the whole floor, a high mount in the warehouse, a corner covering the lot and a dedicated plate camera at the gate. We adapt it to your building during the site visit.

Mounting height guide: 2.5 to 3 metres for face capture, 4 to 5 metres for overview, 6 metres and up for yards and roofs 1.7 m 2.5 to 3 mDoors, tills, corridors: clear faces, out of easy reach 4 to 5 mSales floors, warehouses, garages: overview and tracking 6 m and upYards, lots and roofs: long range with a narrow lens or PTZ

Mounting height and what it gives you

Height is a trade-off between reach and detail. Around three metres gives clear faces and keeps the camera out of easy reach. Four to five metres gives an overview of a floor or a garage. Six metres and up covers a yard, but only with a narrow lens or a PTZ.

CCTV brands we install and the features you get

We install brands we can support for years, not whatever is cheapest this month. These are the lines we put on Richmond Hill sites and why.

Most installed

Uniview (UNV)

Our most installed camera line. ColorHunter cameras give full colour at night, LightHunter sensors handle mixed lighting, and the NVRs scale from four to hundreds of channels. Our biggest project runs 200 Uniview cameras on a 200 TB recorder.

Ubiquiti UniFi Protect

Cameras, recorder, network and Wi-Fi from one console with no licence fees. A strong fit for offices, clinics and multi-site businesses that want everything in one app.

Axis Communications

Premium Swedish cameras for demanding sites: sharp optics, long service life, open platform analytics and excellent cybersecurity practices.

Verkada

Cloud-managed cameras with built-in storage and simple sharing across many locations. Ideal for organisations that do not want on-site servers.

Cisco

Cloud-managed Meraki cameras, switches and Wi-Fi run from one dashboard, a fit for organisations already on Meraki networks.

Dahua

Full-colour and thermal cameras at a sharp price point, a good fit for yards, farms and plazas where the budget matters.

Ajax Systems

Wireless alarm, motion and video verification that pairs with the cameras for monitored sites and after-hours protection.

Features that come standard on our installations

  • 4K and 8 MP detail for faces and licence plates
  • Full colour night vision with Smart IR to 30 m
  • Smart person and vehicle detection alerts
  • 137 degree wide and 360 degree fisheye views
  • IP67 housings rated for minus 30 to plus 60
  • Local NVR recording plus optional cloud backup
  • Remote viewing on phone, tablet and desktop

  • Works with access control, alarm and intercom
  • Isolated VLAN, no cameras exposed to the internet

Before and after: upgrading an old CCTV system

Many Richmond Hill businesses already have cameras that no longer show enough to be useful. If the cable is sound we reuse it, swap the cameras and recorder, and the difference looks like this.

Grainy analog CCTV footage of a parking area before the upgrade
Sharp UltraHD footage of the same parking area after the camera upgrade
Before After

Left: the old analog camera, soft and noisy. Right: an UltraHD camera in the same position on the same cable, with faces and plates readable. Drag the handle.

How we will help you install security cameras in Richmond Hill

The installation of video surveillance goes wrong when steps get skipped. These are the nine we follow on every Richmond Hill job. Keep scrolling and each step comes into focus.

Step 1 of 9

Security planning

  1. 1

    Security planning

We walk the property with you, note every entry, blind corner, cash point and asset, and agree on what each camera must show: a face, a plate, an overview or a process.

  2. 2

    Equipment selection

We pick cameras for each position rather than one model everywhere: turret at the doors, fisheye over the floor, bullet on the fence, plate camera at the gate, all sized to your network and recorder.

  3. 3

    Positioning and placement

We mark heights, angles and lens choices on a plan so each camera covers its zone without glare, backlight or overlap you pay for twice.

  4. 4

    Installation

Our own technicians mount the cameras, run and label the cable, seal every exterior penetration and leave the site clean. No subcontractors.

  5. 5

    Network connectivity

Cameras go on their own VLAN with PoE switches sized for the load, and outbuildings get a wireless bridge that we test for throughput before we leave.

  6. 6

    Configuration

Motion zones, person and vehicle detection, schedules, alerts and user accounts are set for your business, not left on factory defaults.

  7. 7

    Recording and storage

We calculate retention from camera count, resolution and frame rate, then fit the NVR drives to it, with cloud or off-site copies for the cameras that matter most.

  8. 8

    Testing and fine-tuning

We check every view by day and by night, adjust angles and exposure, and hand you a camera map that shows what each one covers.

  9. 9

    Ongoing support

Firmware updates, health checks, lens cleaning and fast help when you need to pull footage. Our 3-year warranty covers the installation, and maintenance plans cover the rest.

Security cameras installation in Richmond Hill: questions we get asked

Straight answers on cost, timing, legality and equipment. If yours is not here, call us and ask.

Do you serve Oak Ridges and the north end of Richmond Hill?

Yes. Oak Ridges, Lake Wilcox and Jefferson are ten minutes from our King City office, so they are among the quickest sites for us to reach.

How much does a clinic or office camera system cost in Richmond Hill?

A clinic or professional office with six to ten cameras typically costs $3,000 to $6,000 installed, including a recorder with 60 days of storage and privacy-aware placement for treatment rooms.

Can you install cameras discreetly in a finished office?

Yes. We use flush domes and mini turrets, run cable above the ceiling and in existing raceways, and colour-match surface conduit where there is no other route.

How much does commercial security camera installation cost?

Most small business systems with four to eight IP cameras and a recorder land between $2,000 and $4,500 installed. Warehouses, plazas and offices with 16 to 32 cameras usually run $8,000 to $18,000, and large industrial sites start around $20,000. The price depends on camera count, cable distances, mounting heights and how much footage you need to keep. We give a fixed written quote after a free site visit.

How long does the installation take?

A four to eight camera system is normally installed and configured in one day. Sixteen to thirty-two cameras take two to four days, and large warehouses are scheduled in phases so your operation keeps running.

Do I need a permit to install security cameras on a commercial property?

Cameras themselves do not need a building permit in Ontario. Low-voltage work must follow the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, and if a new 120 V circuit is needed for a recorder or a pole, that part is done by a licensed electrician. Businesses must also follow PIPEDA and post signage where cameras record the public.

Is it legal to record audio with security cameras?

Video in public-facing and work areas is allowed with signage and a legitimate purpose. Audio is more restricted, so we normally leave microphones off in staff areas and only enable audio where you have a clear reason and notice is given.

Wired or wireless cameras for a business?

Wired PoE cameras are more reliable and record continuously, so we use them wherever we can run a cable. Wireless bridges and LTE cameras are for outbuildings, gates, construction sites and other places where a cable is impractical.

How many cameras does my business need?

A small store or office needs four to eight cameras to cover doors, tills and the lot. A plaza, clinic or mid-size warehouse usually needs 16 to 32. We count positions on the site visit and show you the coverage on a plan before you decide.

How long is footage kept?

We size recorders for at least 30 days and usually 60 to 90 days for commercial sites. With smart detection and larger drives, retention of six months or more is practical.

Can I view the cameras from my phone?

Yes. Every system we install includes secure remote viewing and playback on iOS, Android and desktop, with separate logins for owners, managers and staff.

Can you upgrade my old analog CCTV system?

Usually yes. If the coax cable is sound we replace the cameras and DVR with UltraHD equipment on the same wires, which costs a fraction of a new installation.

Do you offer maintenance and monitoring?

We offer maintenance plans with firmware updates, health checks and lens cleaning, and we can add professionally monitored alarm and video verification through Ajax Systems.

What warranty comes with the installation?

Our installation work carries a three-year warranty. Cameras and recorders carry the manufacturer warranty, which is typically three to five years for the brands we install.

Will the cameras work if the internet goes down?

Yes. Recording happens on the NVR inside your building, so footage is captured with or without internet. You only lose remote viewing until the connection is back.
