Securing a 270,000 square foot warehouse and plant in Milton

A manufacturer took over a warehouse and production facility the size of 40 basketball courts with no cabling, no network and no security, and needed all of it live within a month. We split the building into five zones, each with its own camera plan: compact 8 MP domes in the offices, dual-lens cameras at the entrances and loading docks so one mount covers two directions, LightHunter domes on the production floor for dust and low light, multi-sensor cameras down the warehouse aisles to kill the blind spots between racking, and ColorHunter turrets on the perimeter for full colour at night. Under it all we ran the structured cabling, built the rack and the server room and put every device on its own network. Eighteen months later we went back at minus 25 to check every camera, door and cable, and wrote that up too.

Starlink and network · February 2026

Internet for a church that no provider would connect

The administrator had called every provider and got the same answer. We checked the sky with the Starlink app, mounted the dish on the roof with every penetration sealed, aligned it by hand and put the Starlink router into bypass mode so the building's network is ours to manage. Behind it we built a proper UniFi network: a Dream Router, an 8-port PoE switch and access points on the walls with a speed test at each one. Internet was never the goal; it was the foundation. The church can now add cameras, door access and an alarm on the same network without touching the connection again.

Tested by winter, proven by time: back at the Milton plant

A system is only as good as it is a year and a half later, after two winters, a summer of dust and thousands of door events. We went back to the Milton facility in the coldest week of the year and walked every zone: the perimeter turrets through snow and glare, the dock cameras through the bright door openings, the production-floor domes through dust, the readers and intercoms at every door. The write-up covers what held up, what we would specify differently today, and why the cabling and rack work done at the start is the reason there was nothing to fix.
