Security Camera Installation for Construction Sites

We install security cameras on construction sites across Toronto and the GTA: self-powered solar and LTE camera units for sites with no hydro or internet, 4K PTZ and thermal cameras for perimeter and laydown areas, after-hours person and vehicle alerts, and time-lapse recording for the project record. Installed in days, moved as the site changes.

Greater Toronto Area, Hamilton, Kitchener, Barrie and Muskoka. Same-week site visits.

Job site CCTV installation, planned around how the construction site actually works

A job site changes every week and has no power or internet on day one. We deploy solar and LTE camera units that move with the work, add after-hours person and vehicle alerts, and record time-lapse for the client, usually within 48 hours of the site visit.

  • Free site visit and a camera-by-camera layout before you commit
  • Our own licensed and insured technicians, no subcontractors
  • 4K cameras with colour night vision and smart person and vehicle detection
  • 3-year warranty on the installation

What a construction site surveillance system has to solve

We start every design with the incidents you actually deal with, then put a camera where each one happens. These are the five we plan for on every job site job.

Tool, copper and equipment theft

Theft from Ontario sites runs into tens of millions a year and most of it is never recovered. Visible cameras with active alerts cut incidents sharply.

After-hours and weekend intrusion

Sites are emptiest when the risk is highest. Smart person and vehicle detection wakes you or your monitoring provider only when it matters.

Safety incidents and disputes

Footage of lifts, excavations and traffic lanes supports Ministry of Labour reporting, subcontractor disputes and insurance claims.

Progress and schedule disputes

Time-lapse and dated footage prove when work was done, when deliveries arrived and what the site looked like on any day.

No power, no internet

Most sites have neither at the start. Solar, battery and LTE remove the dependency on site services.

Where the security cameras go in a construction site

A security camera installation plan for construction sites is a list of positions, not a camera count. This is the coverage plan we start from on the site visit and adapt to your building.

ZoneCamera we installWhat it gives youMounting
Site gate and vehicle entranceCameraLicence plate camera plus 4K overviewWhyEvery truck, trade and visitor tied to a plate and timeMountHoarding post or pole at the gate
Perimeter and hoardingCameraPTZ with auto-tracking, thermal on dark sidesWhyDetect a person crossing the line anywhere, follow them automaticallyMount6 to 9 m solar poles or container corners

Mounting heights are our field standard: around 3 metres for faces, 4 to 5 for overviews, 6 and up for yards with a narrow lens or a PTZ. Lens choice is set per position during the site visit.

Best security cameras for construction sites

These are the camera types we specify most often for construction sites, and the positions they earn on a job site plan. We install them from Uniview, Axis, Hikvision, Dahua, Ubiquiti and Verkada depending on the budget and the software you want to live in.

Solar-powered cameras

A camera, battery and solar panel on one pole for construction sites, farms, marinas and lots with no hydro. We add LTE so the footage reaches you anywhere.

PTZ cameras

Pan, tilt and zoom cameras that follow movement across a warehouse floor or a truck yard. One PTZ with auto-tracking can replace several fixed cameras on a large site.

Thermal cameras

Cameras that see heat instead of light for perimeter detection in total darkness, fog or snow, and for early fire detection in recycling and storage yards.

Licence plate cameras

Purpose-built cameras that capture plates at entrances, gates and drive-throughs day and night, with the plate number searchable in the recorder.

Bullet cameras

Long-range cameras for fence lines, laneways, gates and large parking lots. Varifocal lenses let us read a plate or a face from 30 metres and beyond.

Battery-powered cameras

Cameras that run for months on a charge for temporary needs, remote sheds and spots with no power at all. They record on motion and send alerts to your phone.

Turret cameras

Our default outdoor camera for storefronts, loading docks and yards. The ball-in-socket design aims easily, the IR sits away from the lens so there is no glare, and the housing shrugs off snow.

More construction site camera system features we specify

Beyond the four above and the standard 4K, colour night vision and remote viewing, these are the things a job site system needs that a generic installation leaves out.

  • 05

    Thermal perimeter cameras

See intruders in total darkness, rain and dust where visible cameras cannot.

  • 06

    Time-lapse and progress capture

Dated stills every few minutes, compiled into progress videos for the owner, the lender and marketing.

  • 07

    Relocatable in a day

Units move with each phase and come down at turnover, or convert into the permanent building system.

  • 08

    Audit-ready footage export

Clip export with timestamps and chain-of-custody notes for police, insurers and the Ministry of Labour.

Standard on every installation

  • 4K and 8 MP detail for faces and licence plates
  • Full colour night vision with Smart IR to 30 m
  • Smart person and vehicle detection alerts
  • 137 degree wide and 360 degree fisheye views
  • IP67 housings rated for minus 30 to plus 60
  • Local NVR recording plus optional cloud backup

How we install security cameras in a construction site

  1. 1

    Site plan review

We mark gates, laydown, trailers, crane base and the dark sides on your site logistics plan and agree on the phases.

  2. 2

    Power and connectivity plan

Solar and battery sizing, LTE signal check, and local recording so nothing depends on site services.

  3. 3

    Rapid deployment

Units are pre-built in our shop and installed on site in one or two days, usually at mobilisation.

  4. 4

    Monitoring setup and moves

Alerts, schedules and user access are configured, and we relocate units as the site changes, then remove or convert them at turnover.

What construction site security camera installation costs

Installed ranges in Canadian dollars for the system sizes we see most in construction sites. Camera count, cable distances, mounting heights and retention move the number. The written quote after the free site visit is fixed.

Construction site security camera questions we get asked

Straight answers on camera count, equipment, retention and cost. If yours is not here, call us and ask.

Our site has no power or internet yet. Can you still install cameras?

Yes. That is the normal case. Solar and battery units provide power and an LTE router provides the connection. Footage is also recorded locally so nothing is lost if the signal drops.

How fast can cameras be on site?

Usually within 48 hours of the site visit because the units are pre-built in our shop. Larger sites with thermal and time-lapse take a few days.

Do the cameras alert someone at night?

Yes. Person and vehicle detection is armed on a schedule and sends alerts to your phone, your site super or a monitoring station. Talk-down speakers can warn intruders before police are called.

Can the cameras move as the site changes?

Yes. Pole and container units are relocated in a day as phases progress. At turnover we remove them or convert them into the building's permanent system.

Do you provide time-lapse for the project record?

Yes. A dedicated camera captures dated stills every few minutes and we compile progress videos for owners, lenders and marketing.

What does construction site camera coverage cost?

A single solar and LTE unit installed runs $3,500 to $6,500. A typical site package of three to four units covering the gate, laydown and perimeter is $10,000 to $20,000. Rental and monitoring options are available for shorter projects.
